Another Country Heard From...

This is my friend, confidant, and mentor, Buddha. His needs are few, and so are his thoughts, but when he offers an opinion, it's usually spot-on. And so, we have his latest comment on the recent election, the refusal of our president and much of the American public to accept the facts of life, i.e., Darwinian Evolution, their place in the universe (trivial) and the wisdom of the oikosphere, as it were.

As evidence of the wisdom of the the Buddha, I offer this note from my morning commute. I was tooling north on Route 17, and suddenly, a few hundred feet ahead, a black jeep did a 180 degree turn on the highway, and across it, so that it went from the left lane to the far right lane, ending up stopped, facing into traffic. As I drove by, the jeep was about one foot away from the bumper facing it in the lane. By some great miracle, nobody crashed! Now, I ask you, why was that guy driving a jeep!? Isn't that the first question? After all, he was on a highly engineered highway. Secondly, why did he spin as he did? Was he on the cell phone, showing off to his friend (female?), or just an awful driver. And is this any way to get to work? Commuting - the grandest absurdity of contemporary civilization.
